Pups First Swim of the Year
Took the dogs over for their first swim of the year. The ice has finally pulled back a few hundred feet from shore with the warm weather the past few days. Water temp is mid 30s so we couldn't leave them in as long as they would like but still they had a ball.  When we first got to the launch ramp, we were treated to our first sighting ever of a Common Merganser.  Very shy so I couldn't get close but got a couple of telephoto shots. The female with the bushy hair doo and the male with the silky black and white sporting the bright orange bills.

A Little Fishing
Lakes in this area are still solid ice but looking close to opening up. Temperatures in the 60s and even up in 70s today and tomorrow should help that. Went down to the Winnisquam & Winnipesaukee area with the kayak yesterday to try for trout and salmon. Tied in with a couple of buddies and looked for a spot with no ice. This time of year the wind will blow the looses ice from one side to another, what was open yesterday might not be today. We ended up on Silver Lake. Had a beautiful day relaxing, a far cry from this last week of dealing with the storm and its aftermath. BUT, no fish....that's why they call it fishing, not catching.

P.S. I think I want to start a Kayak Fishing Page here on LATORAP to share adventures and pictures.

After the Storm
Well, we finally got power back last night after having it go out on Sunday afternoon. Dont't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. It comes with the territory when living in Paradise. Many around here are still without power or phone so we can be thankful that we aren't one of them.

The storm came in early Sunday morning and we had heavy wet snow all day long. Our ground is pretty saturated already and when the 50 mph winds with 70 mph gusts came around, a lot of trees couldn't hold up to it and went down. We live in the woods so it starts taking its toll. Due to all of the granite, underground utilities aren't a real option. At one point yesterday afternoon we received a report from the power company saying that in our community alone they had 60 line breaks to repair and 5 power poles to replace. They have done some amazing work these past few days. All of New Hampshire got hit hard, not just here in our area.

Time for some warm weather. We are supposed to have sun and 60 degree days Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. That will be nice........More later

News Alert....Nor-easter supposed to hit today. We'll see Surprised. At least its not a work day and we really don't have to head anywhere. Plenty of wood in for the wood stove and we have plenty of groceries. So....hows about a game of Yahtzee and watch the snow fall. Depending on what forecast you look at we could get 10" of snow or 28" of snow, take your pick. I took a few "before" pictures and will post some "afters".

Almost a Month....
Here we are almost a month since my last entry...There have been so many things keeping my attention, a few more storms and a busy load at work. Also we have to keep our priorities straight and be sure all equipment is ready for fishing season. Gotta get the ice off the lakes first but that should be coming soon. Spent most of the morning getting ready for another storm (supposedly a large Noreaster...we'll see) heading our way then I was able to sit down to the computer.
The good news is that I am finally ready to publish this web site. Once I have done that I will definitely be posting here and adding photos to our "Current Photos" page more often. As I have time I will be adding to our Europe and other Life Adventure photo albums.
